Who We Are
Zanzibar Global Health & Education Foundation (ZGHEF) is a non-governmental organisation established to create positive and sustainable change for communities facing health, educational, economic and social challenges.
We work particularly with women, young people, children, persons with disabilities, entrepreneurs and vulnerable or marginalised communities.
Through healthcare initiatives, inclusive education, enterprise development, disability inclusion, advoсaсy and community programmes, ZGHEF seeks to give people greater opportunities to improve their health, develop their potential and build sustainable livelihoods.
We believe lasting progress is achieved through collaboration. We therefore work with Government institutions, healthcare providers, educational institutions, NGOs, private-sector organisations, professionals, volunteers and community stakeholders to design and deliver programmes that respond to genuine needs.
At the heart of our work is a simple principle: every person should have an equal opportunity to lead a better life.

Free prosthetics, mobile clinics, surgical support and rehabilitation for the most vulnerable in Zanzibar and beyond.

Scholarships, learning materials, school rehabilitation and skills training to unlock opportunity.
Community & Humanitarian Support
Emergency relief, dignity kits, elder care and inclusive programs for women, children and persons with disabilities.

Restoring Mobility. Restoring Independence.
- 1 June – 3 July 2026 • Zanzibar
In just 33 days, ZGHEF delivered 100 free prosthetic limbs to amputees who could not afford care. In partnership with LIMB Rehabilitation Center, our team fitted, trained and followed up with every beneficiary — ensuring each person could walk, work and live with dignity again.
What We Provided
Prosthetic fitting, gait training, physiotherapy, follow-up and transport support — 100% free.
Impact
Farmers returned to farms, mothers carried children again, youth returned to school.

People with albinism in Zanzibar face severe sun damage, vision loss and stigma. Our goal: provide 80 people with sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, skin checks and education.
